EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION OF PEACEBUILDING WORKS; PARTNERSHIP STRATEGY OF NAGARIK AAWAZ

The purpose of this participatory action research was to identify the knowledge of value-based peacebuilding and peace practices that Nagarik Aawaz can effectively transfer to its local partners. The purpose was also to evaluate and improve the impact of a program called Building Leadership for Women, Peace, Security, and Equity implemented by Nepal Women Community Service Center in Dang, Nepal. This research involved senior and new staff members of Nagarik Aawaz, program team, board members, and project beneficiaries of the partner organization. A partnership strategy has been developed after this research that focuses on knowledge transfer, elicit/value-based peace practices, and monitoring and evaluation that will help to practice shared leadership, transformative leadership and also contribute to the organizational development of the partners.

FINDING APPROACHES FOR NAGARIK AAWAZ TO COLLECT STORIES OF WOMEN WHO FACED ARMED CONFLICT-RELATED SEXUAL VIOLENCE

The main purpose of this research was to find an approach to collect and document the memories of women who faced conflict-related sexual violence in Nepal. The research took place in the Dang district of Nepal and included women who had benefited from a project called Building Leadership for Women, Peace, Security and Equity. The project has invested in the healing of these women and has an excellent opportunity to collect the memories. Nagarik Aawaz’s senior team was part of this participatory action research. The research found out that the control of the story and memory is with the storytellers (women) and Nagarik Aawaz should focus on capturing a complete story of strength and multiple identities of women. The process of storytelling and collecting the narratives is part of the bigger peacebuilding approach of Nagarik Aawaz. These narratives are memories of someone and therefore should give meaning to the storytellers themselves, and learning for future peace practitioners in Nepal.
